A year ago this week, our producers and editors huddled in a room one day to listen to that day’s episode. Instead of scrolling to find it in our podcast feed, we pulled up the homepage of a public radio station and heard those first hits of “The Daily” theme singing out strong. We were on the radio.
When we first started the show, we hadn’t envisioned it living anywhere but a podcast feed. But when American Public Media came to us and asked, “What if ‘The Daily’ came to radio stations?” we thought, that’s brilliant. We have public radio in our DNA. Our founding team is full of former public radio folks: Lisa Tobin from WBUR, Andy Mills from “Radiolab” at WNYC, and me from “All Things Considered” at NPR.
