Number of Black female podcast creators and listeners explodes | Lifestyle

If one could take a trip in a podcast time machine, you would find that 10 years ago most podcast listeners were white. Today, podcast audiences are as ethnically diverse as the nation, with Black women notably closing the gap in recent years.

The explosion in podcasting has resulted in more podcasters of color providing more listening material for consumers to choose from. The latest research from Nielsen reports that while African Americans, represent 14 percent of the U.S. population (47.4 million), they are “using unfettered access to technology as a means to broaden their reach and express themselves on their own terms.”
