The Black Tapes Podcast Getting TV Adaptation At NBC

Believe it or not, podcasts actually make for some pretty good content for film and TV adaptations. A lot of them are concept-driven, and it’s usually just a matter of finding a way to get that concept across in a different medium. Perhaps the most famous example of this is Lore, a podcast turned into an Amazon original series. But that’s not to say adaptations need to be restricted to nonfiction content.

There is one podcast in particular, The Black Tapes, that is set to be adapted into an NBC series, as reported by Deadline. This adaptation will come from Emerald City co-creator Matthew Arnold, and it will be executive produced by him alongside podcast creators Paul Bae and Terry Miles.

The podcast itself is fictional, but its format is very much in the style of nonfiction podcasts like Serial, which follow an unraveling mystery. Not only is the story fictional, but the situations being investigated are of the paranormal type.
