Hunting Update: Bear and Deer

PodDaily » Hunting Update: Bear and Deer

Bear season’s wrapped up and we have the numbers in, while at the same time, the deer gun hunt is about to kick off.

The DNR has the numbers in for this year’s bear hunt. They reported that over 3,600 bears were harvested for black bear season, which is about the same as last year. For the 2019 season, there were over 12,000 people that applied for a permit or a preference point.

Now on to this year’s deer gun hunt. It’s starting a little later than last year but that shouldn’t be anything to worry about. The DNR said that the success rate for hunters this year is looking pretty good seeing as there’s 1.8 million deer in Wisconsin right now. They’re trying to bring the deer population down to a good number but are struggling a little more than they thought. That’s why some counties are even including antlerless tags with your hunting license this year.

Good luck with the hunt!
